Alliance for Smiles is an international nonprofit based in San Francisco, California, providing free comprehensive cleft lip and palate surgery for children around the world.
In 2017, I redesigned the organization’s logo and developed a completely new WordPress website to replace an outdated site that had become difficult to maintain. Beyond the website, I designed newsletters, brochures, banners, and other marketing materials to support the organization’s outreach.
One of the greatest highlights of this project was traveling with an Alliance for Smiles surgical team to Yangon, Myanmar as the mission photographer. During the two-week mission, I documented patients before, during, and after surgery, creating a lasting visual record of the life-changing work being done.
Nearly a decade later, I proposed and completed a full redesign that modernized the site, simplified content management, and created a more scalable platform for future growth. The site was rebuilt using WordPress and Elementor Pro, replacing the original theme-based design with a reorganized information architecture, custom post types, dynamic archives, improved SEO, and integrated gallery and document management. The new system allows staff and volunteers to easily manage content without having to edit the website’s pages directly.
